British organization EXCEL Esports has unveiled its new FIFA roster, which features Tom “Tom” Leese. Leese joined the team in what is the biggest FIFA transfer of all time, with Nathan “Zelonius” Horton having also signed up as head coach. EXCEL now has one of the most competitive lineups on paper, with a second player due to be added to the mix shortly.

With Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli being an ambassador for the org, it was only a matter of time before they entered the FIFA scene. As part of their entry, EXCEL will begin creating content and running events surrounding the title. A new EXCEL Esports jersey will also be available to fans, which will feature new partner, EE. This follows the news that EXCEL has extended its partnership with BT.

Why EXCEL spent big to acquire Tom

It is such deals that helped finance EXCEL’s move for Tom. The former Hashtag United pro has been ranked no.1 in the world for the past tow years, having first made his name at the age of 17. Having recorded a top six finish in his first ever tournament, the FIFA 17 Ultimate Team Championship 2017, Tom joined FUTWIZ shortly after. Having recently won the E-Premier League, EXCEL will be hoping to reep the rewards following the signing.

Former FIFA pro Zelonius will also be a key addition for EXCEL. The former FUTWIZ player has been charged with turning EXCEL into the leading FIFA team globally, with Zelonius having 5+ years of experience within the scene. On top of Tom and Zelonius, leading photographer David Ellis has also been acquired, who will help the org in creating content.

What EXCEL has said on entering the FIFA scene

Speaking on the latest developments, EXCEL Esports CEO, Wouter Sleijffers stated that: “We are thrilled to announce to the EXCEL community our launch into the competitive FIFA space, as well as the signings of Tom and Zelonius. We have been following the competitive FIFA community for a while now and believe it’s an area where we can strive, especially within the UK and Europe.”

“Bringing on some of the best talents that the competitive UK FIFA scene has to offer, alongside the incredible David Ellis to capture it all, we can’t wait to see what Tom and Zelonius bring to the team and look forward to seeing them dominating the scene. We are also excited to be announcing some more FIFA news to fans shortly!”

Meanwhile, new arrival Tom also had his say on matters: “I am proud to be joining the EXCEL team as their first-ever professional FIFA signing! When EXCEL first approached me, the idea of working together definitely caught my attention. The drive within the EXCEL team to constantly improve and the commitment to jumping straight into the competitive FIFA space really excites me.”

“I want to take my competitive performance and content up another gear and continue to build myself and the growing team whilst doing this, and I feel EXCEL is the perfect place for me to do this. I believe we both share a vision and drive to establish ourselves as a leading team in the scene and I’m looking forward to making that happen!”
