FaZe Clan Signs CS:GO Legend Karrigan

FaZe Clan has added yet another leading player to its CS:GO roster, with Finn “Karrigan” Andersen having been acquired following his departure from mousesports. The Dane spent some two years with the German Esports organization, before the two parties agreed to terminate the contract of the veteran.

While the arrival of Karrigan is seen as a positive move for FaZe, it does mean that Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer Gustafsson will move to the bench. The official announcement of Karrigan’s arrival came on Monday, in what was a move touted for a number of weeks by those in the know within the Esports community.

Why Karrigan’s Return to FaZe Clan is Big News

Karrigan was part of FaZe’s lineup between 2016-2018, with his return to the red and black jersey meaning that the 30-year-old will go straight back into the organization’s starting roster. It is expected that he will also take on the in-game leader role, formally held by olofmeister.

FaZe moved quickly to make up for the absence of former star player “Niko”, who joined G2 Esports in one of the biggest moves in the history of gaming. Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken was signed from Team Liquid at the start of the year, a move which saw Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjaerbye benched. Fans of FaZe will be hoping that the return of Karrigan can make them one of the biggest forces in the European CS:GO scene once again.

When Will We See Karrigan in Action for FaZe?

The team qualified for the BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2021 following two impressive victories over Team Liquid, with even a group final defeat at the hands of Natus Vincere not standing in their way in Group C. Now, with Karrigan on board, the team will head to the IEM Katowice 2021, which gets underway on February 18.

FaZe Clan is one of eight teams to have already booked their place in the group stage of the tournament, with a 16-team play-in stage determining who they will face yet to be held.
