ESL Pro League Group B: The Scores are Tied for 4 Teams!

The intermediate standings of EPL Group B reveal a tense playing field going into the last two match days. G2, NiP, ENCE, and Vitality are all gunning for the top spot. More importantly, however, only three of them can actually make playoffs in the first place.

Things are not looking too great for the backmarkers of the group. The new mousesports lineup managed to achieve close scorelines against Vitality, ENCE, and FaZe, but ultimately, it was never enough for a victory. On an 0-3 score, they are currently sitting in last place of Group B and have no actual shot at making playoffs anymore.

FaZe Clan, however, still have a chance. Their 2-0 victory over mouz has given them something to work with, but G2 and ENCE will be their next opponents. After switching out Kenny “kennyS” Schrub, G2 Esports have managed to rise from their slump at least temporarily. With victories over NiP and Vitality, they have positioned themselves well within the standings and look confident going into their last matches against FaZe and mouz.

IS ZYWOO BACK ALREADY?

At IEM Katowice, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut recorded one of his worst tournament performances of all time. But now, he is already back leading the EPL leaderboard on a 1.36 rating. In all three of the Frenchmen’s matches, ZywOo was the top fragger, and even in their loss to G2 he put up an above-average display. But he isn’t the only star in EPL Group B: Fredrik “REZ” Sterner currently sits on top of a 1.26 rating, Robin “ropz” Kool is close by on a 1.24 rating.

Obviously, ZywOo’s quick return to form is a great sign for Vitality, but their remaining opponents sit above them in the rankings. With REZ and Lotan “Spinx” Giladi, NiP and ENCE feature top players as well. Their entire rosters are putting up solid performances across the board.

THE FIGHT FOR TOP 3

G2 are looking at arguably the easiest two opponents for their last remaining matches. They will only have to beat FaZe and mousesports, the bottom teams of Group B, in order to retain first place. The departure of KennyS has made place for Nikola “NiKo” Kovač to shine. Now he can dominate the scoreboard again, which showed in G2’s match victory over Vitality.

However, remaining in the Top 3 won’t be such an easy task for the other teams. On the last match day, NiP will have to face Vitality and a newly reborn ZywOo. Squaring off with Vitality and FaZe, ENCE are also not getting an easy pass.

Unlike Group A, this playing field is much closer in terms of performance. The four top teams are not buckling to the pressure and are entering a bitter fight for the playoffs spots. Unfortunately, only three of them can actually qualify. In today’s matches, we will get a first glimpse at who can actually set themselves on top and continue into the next phase of ESL Pro League Season 13.
