The Chaos players have managed to qualify for playoffs as the first team in the North American portion of ESL One Cologne 2020. 100 Thieves will have to try again against either FURIA or Gen.G soon.

LEAF IS GROWING INTO A TOP TIER PLAYER

Nathan “leaf” Orf has (involuntarily) been part of a lot of controversy recently. When his team managed to win a Best-of-Three against MIBR, several fans of the Brazilian team posted clips in which the young player could allegedly be seen cheating. Players like Gabriel “Fallen” Toledo and Tarik “tarik” Celik were quick to amplify these accusations. This caused hordes of online trolls to descend on leaf, who wound up locking his Twitter account for a short time. While these players have since retracted their statement, this drama took a toll on the young player. He hasn’t been able to find his form recently – but now, he appears to be right back on track. Following a decisive victory of FURIA, the team has now defeated 100 Thieves as well – and leaf played a huge part in this.

CHAOS 2-1 100T

As the winners of their respective opening matches, both teams were looking to secure a playoffs spot in this duel. Despite a monster performance by Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad, Chaos were able to set themselves on top on the first map. Playing an almost perfect CT side, leaf and Jonathan “Jonji” Carey led the Chaos side to victory with over 20 kills respectively.

On Inferno, however, the Thieves played out of their minds. Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas in particular delivered an incredible performance and was able to enforce a quick victory for his team. On the third map, Mirage, the teams would finally determine a winner. Chaos led their CT side with a 9-6 scoreline at halftime, extending their lead to 12-6 after a successful pistol round. But 100T didn’t want to let go and slowly ground the deficit down. However, just a few rounds shy of the finishing line, they let Chaos slip past with the victory, giving the map away in 13-16 fashion. In this Best-of-Three, leaf was able to impress with a consistently great display of skill.

100 Thieves will obviously be disappointed with such as close loss. However, they still have a lifeline left and a chance for playoffs against the winner between FURIA and Gen.G. Chaos, having made it to the playoffs, can now lay back and enjoy the rest of the Group Stage.
