DreamHack Open Summer 2020 is about to enter its Playoffs Stage. Only 4 teams are left in the race and in this article, I will take a brief look at them. But first, let’s see what happened during the Group Stage in the North American competition.

DreamHack Open Summer 2020 Group Stage Results

DreamHack Open Summer 2020 had 8 teams at the start of the race. Some of them are well-known, such as Team Liquid and FURIA Esports, while others are mostly unknown, such as Ze Pug Godz and Yeah Gaming. For the Group Stage, these teams were divided into two groups of four. And this is what happened:

Group A

  • 1st place: Team Liquid
  • 2nd place: Chaos Esports Club
  • 3rd place: Ze Pug Godz
  • 4th place: Triumph

In Group A, Triumph had been regarded as a much stronger competitor before the tournament began, simply because they won an important title at ESEA Season 33: Premier Division NA Finals. But they failed miserably against Liquid and even ZPG.

Strangely enough, Liquid entered the tournament with a lot of question marks and doubts from the entire community. The change of their coach and the addition of Moses as the new coach turned a lot of heads. But just like YNk, Moses is quickly proving the critics wrong. Liquid won both of its matches with ease and is looking great ahead of the Playoffs.

The second team that qualified from this group is Chaos Esports Club. This team looked decent in the three matches it played in Group A, but the fact that they lost to Liquid so decisively makes me extremely pessimistic about their chances against FURIA Esports.

Group B

  • FURIA Esports
  • Team One
  • Cloud9
  • Yeah Gaming

FURIA easily dominated this group. And it’s not a big surprise, given that they’re one of the best teams in North America. Globally, FURIA is ranked 8th and you can clearly see why when they’re competing against much weaker opponents such as Yeah Gaming.

The other qualified team in this group was Team One. They had a tough defeat against FURIA, but ultimately finished 2nd by beating Cloud9 twice. Both times, it was with the same score: 2 – 1.

Playoffs Stage Predictions

The teams that will compete in the Playoffs of DreamHack Open Summer 2020 are Liquid, FURIA, Chaos, and One. Liquid is almost guaranteed to demolish One, while FURIA shouldn’t have much trouble against Chaos. But who will win the Grand Final? The most recent results suggest that Liquid has what it takes to beat the Brazilian squad. Another indicator that this is likely to happen is FURIA’s close results against Yeah (16 – 14 on map 2) and Team One (2 – 1), both of which are much weaker than Liquid.
