DOTA Summit Online 13: Americas is about to enter its Playoffs Stage. Ten of the strongest teams in the region were present at the start of the tournament and eight of them are still in the race. Over the next four days, they will compete for a prize pool of $100,000 and the prestige of being the champion of a very popular event. Beyond the Summit is known as a highly professional tournament organizer and their events have a long tradition in Dota 2. Because of that, DOTA Summit Online 13: Americas means a great deal even though the prize pool is relatively small for this esport.

DOTA Summit Online 13: Americas Group Stage Results

The Group Stage of DOTA Summit Online 13: Americas was a simple round-robin. The 10 participants played a lot of matches against each other and by far, the strongest competitor proved to be Quincy Crew. This is no surprise, as QC has established itself as the best team in North America in the absence of Evil Geniuses. Their regional results for 2020 are comparable to Team Secret’s. Of course, the tournaments they keep winning are smaller than the ones that are taking place in Europe, but the dominance is still the same. This season, Quincy Crew played in 10 Grand Finals and managed to win 7 of them. That’s a mark of a great team.

These were the complete results of the Group Stage:

  • 1st place: Quincy Crew: 8 W – 1 D – 0 L
  • 2nd place: 4 Zoomers: 4 W – 4 D – 1 L
  • 3rd place: Team Zero: 3 W – 5 D – 1 L
  • 4th place: Thunder Predator: 3 W – 4 D – 2 L
  • 5th place: beastcoast: 3 W – 4 D – 2 L
  • 6th place: catJAMMERS: 3 W – 3 D – 3 L
  • 7th place: Infamous: 3 W – 2 D – 4 L
  • 8th place: Team Brasil: 1 W – 4 D – 4 L
  • 9th place: No Pangolier: 2 W – 1 D 6 L
  • 10th place: Spirit Esports: 0 W – 2 D – 7 L

No Pangolier actually started the tournament playing under Plasma’s banner. But the organization made a massive PR mistake by mocking South American teams and South America, which made the organizer to disqualify them.

The top 4 teams advanced to the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs while the next 4 teams advanced to the Lower Bracket.

Playoffs Matches

The Playoffs Stage of DOTA Summit Online 13: Americas offers plenty of great matches that are worth watching.

Quincy Crew – Thunder Predator

It’s hard enough to beat Quincy Crew in a Bo1. Imagine then how difficult it is to beat them in a Bo3. These two teams already met each other in the Group Stage. Quincy Crew won that match quite easily. Both games lasted less than 35 minutes. This match is almost certainly going to end with another victory for QC. But they may not win it with a score of 2 – 0. So you must be careful if you intend to bet on a 2 – 0 result.

4 Zoomers – Team Zero

These two teams finished 2nd and 3rd in the Group Stage of DOTA Summit Online 13: Americas. When they faced each other, the match ended with a draw. So it’s a bit difficult to make a prediction with regards to this Bo3. However, if we take a look at every statistic, Team Zero should be the favorite here. The reason is simple: this is the only team that managed to draw against Quincy Crew in the Group Stage. Logically, we have to assume that they have great potential and are probably slightly stronger than 4 Zoomers.

beastcoast – Team Brasil

In the Group Stage of DOTA Summit Online 13: Americas, the match between these two teams ended with beastcoast’s victory. And keep in mind, that was a Bo2. Furthermore, Team Brasil only had 1 victory during the Group Stage. And they played 9 matches. That’s a very poor result and it’s considerably weaker than beastcoast’s record for this stage: 3 W – 4 D – 2 L. Unless something spectacular happens, beastcoast should win this match.

catJAMMERS – Infamous

catJAMMERS is the only team that managed to get an equal number of wins, draws and losses (3 – 3 – 3). Infamous got a similar score: 3 – 2 – 4. However, the direct match ended with a victory for Infamous. Because of that, I think it’s safe to assume that the South American squad is the favorite here.
