Dota 2 – The Entire OG Roster Is… Gone

OG, one of the most legendary teams in Dota 2 and still the only one to win The International... Radu M. | 22. November 2021

OG, one of the most legendary teams in Dota 2 and still the only one to win The International twice, has apparently decided to stop playing professionally and simply hire a completely new roster to represent the organization. This is a rather shocking move given the fact that the old roster finished 7th – 8th at TI10 and was clearly strong enough to compete against Europe’s best competitors.

How It Started

It all started with Ceb’s decision to quit the professional scene. In many ways he was the soul of the team and its great motivator. With him gone, a lot of other changes came as a direct consequence.

Sumail saw an opportunity and went to Team Secret, replacing MATUMBAMAN. This was an inspired move but nobody realized that it was actually a forced move. Sumail would have probably continued to play for OG under normal conditions. But because he knew about what was going to happen, he decided to transfer to Secret asap.

Saksa’s departure was announced on the same day. He hasn’t found a team yet but he probably will in the coming days. After all, he’s a former OG player. If he was good enough to compete for one of the best orgs in the world, he’s definitely good enough to play almost anywhere.

With these 3 players gone, OG was left with N0tail and Topson and everyone was worried about OG’s future. After all, how will a team built on friendship function if most of its members have left and 3 strangers need to be brought in to replace them? It turns out, it doesn’t. The remaining 2 players have decided to quit as well and let others represent the organization.

As you might imagine, the sponsors will not like this. And OG is probably going to crash and burn in the coming months. There’s no way for a roster of mostly no-names to survive in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

OG’s New Roster

The new OG team, the one that’s supposed to represent this formidable esports organization in 2021 – 2022, is made up of these players:

  • Yuragi (Ukraine)
  • Bzm (Bulgaria)
  • ATF (Jordan)
  • Taiga (Norway)
  • Misha (Russia)

You’ve probably heard of Taiga and Misha, although neither of them has done anything spectacular. But who are the other 3 players? It certainly feels like OG’s management has made one of those “let’s get a $100 logo just because we need a logo” decisions. Or at least, it doesn’t feel like there’s a real interest to keep the brand image by investing in a competitive roster. But we’ll have to see how it goes. Most likely, the results will be so poor that by the end of 2022, OG will be in the Open Qualifiers for the Lower Division.
