Dota 2 patch 7.30e brings changes to 35 heroes, which is more than a quarter of the hero pool. And these changes have the potential to reforge the current meta.
Heroes That Got Buffed by Dota 2 Patch 7.30e
These are the heroes that have received a little bit of love, or a lot of it in some cases, from IceFrog, in Dota 2 patch 7.30e.
Alchemist
His strength gain (per level) was increased by 0.2.
Axe
The slow/boost of his Battle Hunger is no longer fixed at 12%. Instead, it gets better with each level: 12% / 13% / 14% / 15%.
Broodmother
Her base movement speed got buffed a little (275 -> 280), while her Spin Web ability replenishes faster (40s -> 30s). However, one of her level 15 talents got nerfed: the Spin Web recharge time buff is only -10s instead of -15s.
Chen
His attack damage got buffed (+2), the manacost of his ultimate got reduced by 50 per level and his Penitence now costs just 85 mana at level 4 instead of 100. Overall, the hero is much stronger now in the laning phase.
Drow Ranger
Drow Ranger is likely to make a comeback after Dota 2 patch 7.30e, thanks to the buffs she received: 5 movement speed and +5% Marksmanship agility bonus at each level.
Keeper of the Light
KotL’s Solar Bind now offers a greater magic resistance reduction: +1/2/3/4% compared to Dota 2 patch 7.30d. His Illuminate heal has also been buffed through rescaling: 40%/50%/60%.
Omniknight
His base armor was increased by 1 and his Degen Aura got buffed and rescaled, from 10 – 37% to 14 – 38%. This will allow Omni to pair much better with heroes that have the potential to do a lot of damage in the laning phase if the target is slowed.
Outworld Destroyer
OD might be back into the meta after Dota 2 patch 7.30e. His Essence Flux got buffed significantly, from 20 – 50% to 30 – 60% while his Level 10 talent now gives him +20 attack speed instead of +15.
Pudge
The most picked and beloved hero in Dota 2 has received a huge buff in patch 7.30e. His level 1 Meat Hook now costs just 110 mana instead of 135. His Shard ally regen got nerfed a bit (6% to 5%), but that’s not as important. The key to this hero is having the ability to throw as many hooks as possible, especially in the early game.
Pugna
Pugna’s Nether Blast now has a better cast range (500 instead of 450), which means that he can destroy towers with far less risk. The hero also has better talents now: +200 HP instead of +175 (at level 10) and +20 movement speed instead of +15 (also at level 10).
Spirit Breaker
Dota 2 patch 7.30e is clearly aiming to bring the space-bull back into the game. His base strength got buffed (+1), his movement speed got buffed (+5) and his Ether Strike now deals +25 more damage at every level.
Warlock
This hero’s laning phase has been buffed significantly. At level 1, his Shadow Word can be cast from 600 range instead of 450. This means that he can now harass enemy heroes with ease and secure the kill if they don’t start running away immediately.
Zeus
His movement speed is now 315, which is quite a lot, and the stun duration of his W is now 0.3s.
Heroes That Got Nerfed by Dota 2 Patch 7.30e
A total of 22 heroes got nerfed by Dota 2 patch 7.30e. Let’s take a look at the ones that got hit the hardest.
Bane
You think base damage is your ally? Think again. Bane’s damage got reduced by 2. Furthermore, his Nightmare now has a longer cooldown: from 22 – 13s to 24 – 15s. And his level 10 armor talent gives just 5 armor instead of 6. So overall, the purple alien is just a bit less interesting.
Doom
His ultimate can now be cast from 500 maximum range instead of 550. This is not a huge nerf, because Doom tends to blink-stun a target before dooming it. But it might affect the hero’s ability to Doom the right target during a chaotic team fight.
Earthshaker
Just as Pudge’s mana cost decrease for his Q will make him much stronger, Shaker’s manacost increase for his Fissure will make him much weaker. From 110 at level 1, the cost has gone up to 125. His Enchant Totem is also a bit weaker. However, not for him but for Morphling. Because it no longer grants Cleave to ranged heroes.
Elder Titan
Astral Spirit is ET’s most important ability and 2 of its features got nerfed through rescaling: movement speed per hero (from 7% to 5/6/7/8%, which is a buff after level 4 but suffers for the first 2 levels), bonus damage per hero (from 20 – 80 to 14 – 80). On top of that, the vision was reduced from 400 to 350.
Ember
This hero was often picked with the mid game in mind. But now that the Aghanim’s Scepter no longer reduces the mana cost of the Fire Remnants, people might think twice.
Grimstroke
His Ink Swell’s buff duration was reduced from 4s to 3s.
IO
Tether’s Shard movement speed got nerfed by 2%, from 10% to 8%. The level 10 and level 20 talents also received important nerfs: 5 HP regen to 4, and -30s Relocate cooldown to -25s.
Lina
Lina’s Dragon Slave now has a cooldown of 9s instead of 8s. And the Movement Speed buff of her Fiery Soul got nerfed by 1% per level. However, Lina gains back her usual Dragon Slave cd at level 10, if she takes the -3.5s CD, which was previously just -2.5s. And players will certainly pick this over the attack damage bonus, which got nerfed (from +30 to +25).
Lion
His Earth Spike now costs more mana until level 4. In particular, the 1st level of this ability got hit hard: 85 instead of 70.
Medusa
Medusa’s agility gain (per level) has been decreased by Dota 2 patch 7.30e by 0.2, from 3.6 to 3.4. And one of her level 20 talents also got nerfed: +30% Mystic Snake mana gain instead of +35%.
Monkey King
This was one of the most picked and contested heroes at The International 10, so it’s easy to understand why he got nerfed. His movement speed was decreased by 5, his Primal Spring CD went from 19 – 13s to 20 – 14s, and his Boundless Strike CD went from 23 – 20s to 28 – 22s. At level 1, this ability got absolutely ruined.
Spectre
Spectre’s Shadow Step now has a CD of 40s instead of 30s, which is a huge nerf. And the CD of his Spectral Dagger also got nerfed indirectly, by nerfing the level 10 talent, from -5s to -4s.
Storm Spirit
His base damage was reduced by 2 and the CD of Electric Vortex went from 16s to 22 – 16s. Both of these nerfs hurt him a lot.
Tidehunter
Tide’s favorite ability in the laning phase, Anchor Smash, now costs a lot more mana than it did before: from 30 – 60 to 40 – 70.
Tiny
Tiny’s Tree Throw does less damage (25% instead of 20%). The Tree Grab splash damage has also been nerfed (from 200% to 40 – 100%). And the building damage of Tree Grab went from 90 – 180% to 70 – 160%. The Tree Grab unit damage got reduced indirectly as well, by nerfing the level 15 talent: from +30% damage to +20% damage.
Void Spirit
Void Spirit was spammed at TI10, so IceFrog has decided to make him less potent in Dota 2 patch 7.30e. His Dissimilate cast point is now 0.3 instead of 0.2 and the Shard bonus damage is only +175 instead of +200. Void Spirit’s late game talents also got hit: +12% spell amplification instead of +14%, and only +1.75s stuns for Dissimilate instead of +2s.
