OG qualifies for TI10, Nigma eliminated. It was a close call as Nigma came close to qualifying for TI10, but were eliminated at the WePlay Esports AniMajor and then had to fight their way through the European Dota Qualifier. They survived a battle with Team Liquid, winning the series 2-1 and finishing in the top three.

In the lower group final, Nigma faced OG for the second time after being eliminated by them 2-1 in the upper group. Despite Nigma’s victory in the first game, OG proved to be the better team, winning another 2:1 series and eliminating their opponents completely from the competition.

OG with some luck

This defeat ended Nigma’s Dota Pro Circuit run. Nigma was present at almost all TIs and were considered one of the strongest teams in TI history: Nigma won TI7, managed to finish fourth at TI8 and even reached the finals of TI9 last year.

For OG, on the other hand, things looked quite different in their run through the TI qualifiers. They were on the brink of elimination several times but still found a way to participate in TI again this year, including defeating Tundra Esports 3-2 in the European qualifier for Dota 2’s TI10.

For OG, the TI would be a chance to win their third consecutive international title. The organization’s TI9 team became the first team in Dota history to win two international titles in a row, as they had already won TI8 the year before.

For OG, this is the first time in more than two years that they have competed in an international LAN event. Even though the team had qualified for the ESL One Los Angeles Major last March, they were not able to attend it as the major was eventually cancelled due to Corona.
