Already since October last year there were some rumors that China is allegedly putting together an absolute Dota-superteam with a star line-up. In the meantime the rumors have turned into truth. The superteam is called Elephant and consists of Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun, Lu “Somnus丶M” Yao, Zhou “Yang” Haiyang, Xu “fy” Linsen, and Xie “Super” Junhao. With the win against EHOME, the team made it to the TI.

Elephant defeated opponents EHOME 3-1 in the China qualifiers for The International 2021 to secure a spot at the mega tournament. While the game remained in control in the first two rounds, Elephant dominated in game three and then took control, leaving EHOME with no chance.

Elephant has already some experience with the TI

With this win, the Elephants end their run to qualify for TI10. They managed to defeat some of the best teams in the China region. Elephant is no stranger to the TI, although they had not participated together in this formation before. But some individuals from Elephant are already familiar with the TI.

Somnus and fy participated in 2019 with PSG.LGD and the other players had also participated in some form before, even though none of them was in a team winning the TI. Elephant has worked consistently but it is still astonishing that they were able to secure a spot at the TI in less than a year, being complete unknowns beforehand. They are now the fifth Chinese team to qualify for the TI, along with PSG.LGD, Invictus Gaming, Vici Gaming and Team Aster. This increases the probability that it will be a Chinese team that will secure the trophy this year.
