The Frenchmen had little troule dispatching BIG and are now head-on with Astralis. One of the two teams will soon make its way to the Grand Finals, while the other will drop to the Lower Bracket to fight for survival.

HEROIC AND NIP CONTINUE LOWER BRACKET RUN

OG have shown a different version of themselves today. While they put up a great performance versus G2 Esports yesterday, today they had no chance against the Ninjas in Pyjamas. Issa “ISSAA” Murad, who reined in a star-rating yesterday, dropped to the bottom of the scoreboard in today’s match. Fredrik “REZ” Sterner was a superstar on Nuke. He sat on top of a 2.26 rating with 28 Kills and might not even have needed his colleagues to win. The Ninjas secured a comfortable 16-4 win, during which Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen only got 5 kills in total.

On Train, OG showed similar weakness. While they did win 7 rounds in the first half, this just wasn’t enough on Train. On the T side, they then had to try to somehow scrape those remaining points together. But the Swedish defense was unbreakable. Tim “nawwk” Jonasson secured 25 kills and a 1.64 rating – not as dominant as REZ earlier, but enough to grind OG down. The mix-team conceded Train on a 10-16 score and has to wave its Grand Finals aspirations goodbye. They can still fight Sprout for 7th place, but that’s all they will be able to achieve during DreamHack Fall Open.

Heroic were successful in their match versus Sprout. While the sproutlings took a map off of them, the Danes were much stronger on Nuke and Mirage. Martin “stavn” Lund and René “TeSeS” Madsen earned themselves high ratings, while Denis “denis” Howell and Timo “Spiidi” Richter only put up weaker performances.

VITALITY TO UPPER BRACKET FINALS

The Frenchmen put up a dominant show today. Just like in their duel with NiP, they showed that they’re in top form this time around – maybe even good enough for a spot in the Grand Finals.

Florian “syrsoN” Rische was the only player to perform on the German side. But he still only got a 0.97 rating for his efforts, as he and his colleagues were floored by the individual prowess of Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and Cédric “RpK” Guipouy. On Inferno, ZywOo was dominant with 22 Kills and just 10 deaths. Vitality converted this performance into a 16-11 win, in which BIG at no point looked to be competent enough to take this home.

On Dust2, they at least got off to a better start. Still, they had only accumulated 7 rounds after the first half. Despite syrsoN trying his very best, his team just wasn’t able to catch up. This time around, it was RpK who outplayed the Germans and secured a 1.39 rating for his efforts. The strong T side of Vitality granted them another 16-11 win.

BIG have thus reached Lower Bracket grounds and are facing Heroic next. Should they win this, they will meet either fnatic or NiP next. In any case, this is going to be a tall order for a team that is showing sings of weakness.

FAZE AND NORTH IN CONTENTION FOR 9TH PLACE

One of these teams will exit the playoffs of DreamHack Open Fall on third-to-last place. The other team will at least earn a 9th place finish, which is still not a satisfying result for either of the two. FaZe in particular will be majorly frustrated, having just won IEM New York EU less than two weeks back.

GODSENT gave up a one-sided 0-2 to North, which means that the Danes will at least not exit in last place. FaZe had a lot more trouble taking down G2, but eventually they secured the 2-1 victory. So GODSENT and G2 will battle it out for the second-to-last place, which both teams will not be happy about at all.

The Lower Bracket fight continues. Astralis or Vitality will soon join the bitter race for the Grand Finals spot. Overall, it still looks as though Astralis will secure yet another Grand Finals appearance, but Vitality are definitely the most consistent of the remaining bunch. All the other rosters are only posting convincing results depending on the day.
