South Korean eSports team T1 have announced the arrival of Sam “DaZeD” Marine to its Valorant roster, a move which will see the former CS:GO pro reunite with Braxton “brax” Pierce. The duo were teammates at iBUYPOWER, with DaZeD having been banned for his role in the much publicized match fixing scandal of 2014. The veteran American has also played for the likes of Denial Esports and Quantic Gaming in his time.

The 31-year-old made the move to Valorant earlier this year, before it was revealed that he had been playing alongside brax for an extended period. This led to speculation regarding a potential reunion at T1, news that was let slip by Jacky “Stewie2k” Yip, with the deal having now been made official by all parties.

How News Broke of DazeD’s Arrival

Announcing the news on Twitter, T1 posted: We’re pleased to welcome @GODaZeD to our @PlayVALORANT roster! Meanwhile, poking fun at the speculation that surrounded the move, DaZeD replied by saying “And nobody suspected a thing”. His arrival at T1 has certainly excited fans, with DaZeD having been a hugely popular figure in the CS:GO scene previously, with many being pleased to see him back in a competitive manner.

Having been banned from Valve events, DaZeD almost went off the grid for a period of time, however he returned to Twitch by streaming matches alongside Stewie2K and Kyle “OCEAN” O’Brien, demonstrating that he still has a lot to offer. The American’s personality had also seemingly changed, with many noting a more toned down Marine. It is such changes that have led to many stating that he is one of the best pros to move to Valorant to date.

Is This a Fresh Start for the Former CS:GO Pro?

DaZeD previously had a reputation as something of a brash character, regularly calling out both teammates and opponents when he felt fit, however his calmer persona could make him even more of a threat in Valorant. The in-game leader is therefore seen as a shrewd move by T1, who already have brax, Keven “AZK” Lariviere, Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham and coach Daniel “fRoD” Montaner signed up.

Riot Games has recently announced the launch of First Strike, a new global competitive Valorant tournament, which could well be the first opportunity for fans to get a glimpse of what DaZeD has to offer. The event is due to take place from November 9-22.
