Counter-Strike: Global Offensive star Jake “Stewie2K” Yip has talked up a future move to VALORANT, however the 23-year-old is set to stick with Team Liquid for the time being. A number of CS:GO pros have switched to the Riot Games tactical shooter title since its launch last year.

Stewie2K has long been regarded as one of the leading CS:GO players around, having made his name with the likes of Cloud9, SK Gaming and MiBR. The American revealed on a recent stream that he would most likely play professional VALORANT in the future.

What Stewie2K said about VALORANT

Stewie2K was speaking while watching the VALORANT Champions Tour Stage 3 Challengers NA Playoffs clash between 100 Thieves and Team Envy. Despite not having a good understanding of the map and exactly what was going on, the veteran joked with friends about moving to the Riot title. Given the similarities between CS:GO and VALORANT, it comes as no surprise that players continue to be linked with moves between the two.

The former CS:GO Major winner also tuned in for the next series encounter between 100 Thieves and Sentinels, where he stated: “Watch party tomorrow, I’m down to watch it with you guys. I actually learned a lot from watching, and with all jokes aside, I’m not making the switch, but I will eventually”.

Why Stewie2K would interest VALORANT Teams

Stewie2K played VALORANT upon the game’s release, however he is believed to have not played since the agent Killjoy was launched in August last year. Team Liquid had to deal with the loss of Nick “nitr0” Cannella to VALORANT in the same month, with the superstar having joined 100 Thieves.

A host of leading Esports organizations would certainly be interested in Stewie2K should he switch to VALORANT, with the former Cloud9 entry-fragger still being regarded as a leading pro. Stewie2K began his CS:GO career in 2015, having played for the likes of SapphireKelownaDotCom, ex-eLevate, FolloweSports.com and Splyce.

Is Stewie2K really going to switch?

At this point it is not clear if his interest in Valorant will keep growing or eventually fade. But there have been a lot of Counterstrike Pros that made the switch. It is not impossible that Stewie2k will consider this move in the future.

Both games have a lot in common and pros from the Counterstrike competetive scene are doing well in Valorant so a switch will always be something to think of for pros and good players.
