G2 Esports and Natus Vincere reach the Grand Final of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 after their semi-final victories. NAVI has the opportunity to make history as they have a chance to win the Major without losing a single map on their way to the title.

G2 Esports and Natus Vincere are the finalists of the Major in Stockholm. G2 Esports prevailed 2-1 in the best-of-three at Avicii Arena on Saturday. Afterwards, Natus Vincere dominated their opponent Gambit with 2:0. The final will take place today at 20:00. Here is a summary of the two semifinal matches.

G2 vs. Heroic

In the first semifinal on Saturday afternoon Heroic got the better start. The Danes were able to win their own pick Nuke with 16:12. At halftime Casper ‘cadiaN’ Møller and Co. took a tight 8:7 lead on the T-side. Although G2 won the Pistolround and the following round after the break, Heroic didn’t let much happen after that. The Northmen won the map 16:12. On the following map Mirage Heroic could again take a halftime lead of 8:7, but this time on the CT side.

But this was not enough against the strong CT side of G2, which was characterized by great dominance. They were able to win their own pick with 16:10. High tension was to be expected on Inferno, because the map went into overtime. Both G2 Esports and Heroic won their CT sides 9:6, but in overtime G2 made short work of the game, winning 4:0 to advance to the major finals.

Natus Vincere vs. Gambit

In the second semi-final, world number one Natus Vincere flexed their muscles against Gambit. On his opponent’s pick, s1mple led his team to a 10-5 lead on the CT side. After the first half, Gambit continued to find few answers to Na`Vi’s outstanding play and could not make much of an impact on the CT side either. With an unchallenged 16:8, it was off to their own map pick Mirage for Natus Vincere.

S1mple put on an absolute show, while Boombl4 had his knife in action not once but twice in the first half. S1mple finished the half with 22 kills, and Na’Vi went to the T-side with a 12-3 lead. Na’Vi didn’t reduce the pressure a bit and went to the T-side with a huge 15-3 lead. After the side switch, Natus Vincere ended Gambit’s final dreams on the fly. After winning four T rounds, the lineup around s1mple was in the Stockholm final.

Na’Vi defeated its home rival 16-4 on Mirage to secure the 2-0 win and advance to the finals.

The battle for the championship title between NAVI and G2 will take place today at 20:00. In addition to the prestigious trophy, the winner will receive $1 million from the total prize pool, while the second-place team will receive $300,000.
