CS:GO – PGL Major New Challengers Stage Results

The New Challengers Stage of PGL Major is finally over and even though the first few days made it look like several favorites were not going to make it, almost everyone that was supposed to qualify eventually qualified. The only exception was Team Spirit, which finished with a score of 2 W – 3 L. Its place was taken by Entropiq, although, given how strong the team proved to be (3 W – 1 L), we should probably say that it was actually MOUZ who took the place of the CIS squad.

The Qualified Teams after the New Challengers Stage

Because PGL Major Stockholm uses the Swiss System Format for its first two stages, only 8 of the 16 teams that took part in the New Challengers Stage qualified for the New Legends Stage. These teams are the following:

  • 1st place: FaZe Clan: 3 W – 0 L: +21
  • 2nd place: Copenhagen Flames : 3 W – 0 L: +23
  • 3rd place: ENCE: 3 W – 1 L: +15
  • 4th place: Entropiq: 3 W – 1 L: +19
  • 5th place: Virtus.pro: 3 W – 1 L: +3
  • 6th place: Heroic: 3 W – 2 L: +4
  • 7th place: Astralis: 3 W – 2 L: -1
  • 8th place: MOUZ: 3 W – 3 L: -3

The teams that did not qualify are BIG, Team Spirit, Movistar Riders, paiN Gaming, Renegades, TYLOO, GODSENT, and Sharks Esports.

Of the 8 teams that qualified, Astralis had the most disastrous start. The Danes lost against Copenhagen and Entropiq, and then had to win 3 matches in a row to keep their dream alive. As you probably know, gla1ve and his crew won the last 3 CS:GO Majors. So even though, they’re not one of the favorites to win PGL Major Stockholm, a lot of people have been cheering for them. At the very least, the fans hope to see them in the New Champions Stage, defending their title.
