CS:GO – How to Play AWP

Being one of the best weapons in the game, the Arctic Warfare Police (AWP) is a single shot, damage monster. It could easily kill the enemy, as the 7.62mm bullets tend to do a lot of destruction on body parts. The most important thing when trying to shoot is your aim. Without proper flicking and aiming skills, the AWP could be your worst enemy, as the accuracy tends to be worse when moving. In the following article, I am going to tell you some of the best tips.

Train, Train, Train!

As the CS: GO community progressed, new workshop training maps appeared. I recommend you to play on accuracy training maps, pre-fire maps, or anything that lets you kill the enemies while moving. Do not train on maps that have the enemy players frozen, as they are always going to move in a real match. Try to practice flicks with the AWP, as flicks are what you are going to do most of the time.

Decide when you’re going to buy an AWP

Buying an AWP in bad economic situations is a no-go. Try to focus on your teammates, as you should always share the money when it is needed. If you see the enemy is holding the same position, trying to peek at him with the AWP could be a game-changer, so buy it when you consider you need it.

Decide who is going to be the main AWP player for the team

Most of the time, the player with the best reflexes and reaction time is going to be the AWP player. Try to train as much as possible until your teammates are going to want you to play with the AWP when it is needed. Always try to prove you’re the best, by hitting insane shots, and good plays.

When to abandon the AWP, and how to do it

When you are in a clutch situation and the enemies are close to you, the AWP is just not going to do a good job most of the time. Instead, try to switch to the closest gun to you, like the P90 or AK-47. Most of the time, Rifles or SMGs are going to be the best at short-range shots. If you’re going for close-range shots with the AWP, you need some quick reaction times, good aim, and flick accuracy.

In the end, you should always prove to others and yourself that you’re the best. Do not let other people discourage you, as you should always try new things. When you have a chance, try to play with your favorite weapon, in your playstyle. You should always consider your teammate’s tips, as there is always room for improvement. Do not be shy to ask for a drop or any other necessities, even if your team is disrespectful. Try to maintain a good friendship with your teammates and don’t be toxic when you miss an easy shot, as that sometimes happens to the best of us.
