FNATIC puts GOLDEN on bench, letting him explore other options. The Swedish team has announced that they will bench Maikil “Golden” Selim. The team wants to rebuild everything and especially change the in-game leadership because Fnatic has been underperforming since the beginning of the year.
Not an easy decision
It is also pretty sure that there will be more changes in the line-up. The 27-year old Swede is leaving Fnatic after almost 2 years. He was with Fnatic before in 2017, but had to leave back then to make room for William “Draken” Sundin.
Wishing fnatic best of luck. Thank you for all the moments we shared together, will always remember and cherish the memories.
As of now there will be some reflecting to do and explore my options for the future. https://t.co/NCeIoCztQv— Maikil Selim (@goldenmajk) July 6, 2021
As the team’s coach Andreas “Samuelsson” Samuelsson stated, “Golden is certainly the friendliest and best teammate, but recent results have not been up to the standards we expect from the team” “Therefore, we want to start a new chapter and begin our rebuilding process with new leadership in the game. You can expect more news from us in the near future.”
Golden had not played with the team in the last month after Fnatic finished the IEM Summer in the last place and coming from that his departure is not a big surprise. Golden also shared, “I wish Fnatic the best of luck. Thank you for all the moments we shared together – I will always remember and cherish the memories. Thanks to all the people who supported us through the good and the bad. As of now there will be some reflecting to do and explore my options for the future.”
Fnatic now has still Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson, Jesper “JW” Wecksell, Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin, Jack “Jackinho” Strom Mattsson and Peppe “Peppzor” Borak.
