Fnatic eying moves for british duo ALEX & mexii. Fnatic are believed to be working on deals to bring in both Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and William “mezii” Merrimam. The British CS:GO duo were former teammates at Cloud9, with the pair reportedly being on the verge of reuniting, if news from 1pv.fr are to be believed.

Fnatic are in need of reinforcements following the departures of captain Maikil “Golden” Selim and Jesper “JW” Wecksell earlier in the month. The team has been disappointing in 2021 to date, with the organization now focusing upon an international lineup, branching away from their Swedish roots.

Why ALEX & mezii are on the brink of joining Fnatic

Both ALEX and mezii were part of the famous Cloud9 Colossus roster, that was managed by Henry “HenryG” Greener. Having been launched in October 2020, the lineup ultimately disbanded in March this year, following a decision to take a step back from the CS:GO scene.

Since then, ALEX has remained a free agent, having talked up the prospect of switching to Riot Games’ first person shooter title VALORANT. The 25-year-old made his name at Team Vitality, with his CS:GO career dating back to 2014.

Meanwhile, mezii has been competing under the banner of Endpoint since April, where he has averaged a rating of 1.22 according to HLTV. The 22-year-old is undoubtedly Endpoint’s star man, however he could well be snapped up by Fnatic in the coming days.

What the future holds for Fnatic’s swedish core

ALEX and mezii would certainly be welcome additions at Fnatic, who are still uncertain on the future of their Swedish players. Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson, Ludvid “Brollan” Brolin and Jack “Jackinho” Strom remain on Fnatic’s active roster, however further changes could be made before the end of the summer break on August 15. The future of coach Andreas “Samuelsson” Samuelsson is potentially up in the air too, with pressure mounting on the 30-year-old.
