The LA Guerrillas will have an entirely new look for the Call of Duty League next year, with the organization having made the decision this week to release its entire roster. Following a disappointing 2021, all former players have become free agents, as they look for new challenges.

News of the decision broke via Twitter on Sunday, with the org having thanked the former roster for its efforts. Justin “SiLLY” Fargo-Palmer, Adam “Assault” Garcia, Billy “MentaL” Putnam and Bryan “Apathy” Zhelyazkov were all let go. The Tweet read: “Today, we announce the departure of our 2021 roster. We want to thank @silly702, @Assault, @MentaL and @Apathy_BZ for being consummate professionals and representing our organization with the utmost respect during their time here. We wish them the best of luck going forward.”

Why the Guerrillas also released it’s academy roster

The message was followed up by another, which let fans know that Call of Duty favourite Martin “Cheen” Chino had also been released, along with academy players Kaden “Exceed” Stockdale, Chance “Maux” Moncivaez and Dylan “Nero” Koch. The quartet had been competing in the Challengers Division, however they too will now be on the lookout for a new team.

It remains to be seen as to whether the Guerrillas will continue to invest in its academy lineup, however its main Call of Duty League team will certainly remain, albeit it with a new look. This is the first time in which the Guerrillas has released its entire roster, although it perhaps came as a surprise when they did not last year.

With former star man having returned to top form with the Dallas Empire following his departure from LA back in May, it will be interesting to see which direction the Guerrillas now go in. The team finished 11th in the Call of Duty League 2021 regular season rankings, thanks to their 8-26 record, meaning that they missed out on a place in the playoffs.

What the future holds for the LA Guerrillas

A number of free agents are available to the Guerrillas, as well as other teams, while LA may target players from the Challengers division. The likes of Envoy, Crimsix and Vivid are among the players currently on the lookout for a new team. While it would be unlikely that Vivid would consider a return to the Guerrillas, it is likely that LA will still be able to attract some top talent.

The Minnesota Røkkr are one team that has benefited from dropping its entire roster, however the Guerrillas would require signigicant investment to follow in their footsteps.
