Clayster returns to New York Subliners active roster. James “Clayster” Eubanks has returned to the New York Subliners starting lineup, with the veteran having joined up with the team once again ahead of the 2021 CDL Playoffs. With Clayster on board, the Subliners could well be a major threat.

Clayster had previously announced his intention to part ways with New York back in July, following the Subliners 0-3 record at the beginning of the Stage Five Group Play. “Diamoncon” replaced the 3x world champion, with the 21-year-old Canadian having performed admirably. With Diamondcon on board, the Subliners went 3-2 in the five matches.

How New York broke the news of Clayster’s return

Breaking the news of Clayster’s return via Twitter, however many fans posted their displeasure. Many thought that Diamondcon deserved a chance to play, while others suggested that New York should have instead signed free agent Arran “TacticalRab” Francis. It remains to be seen as to how quickly Clayster can rediscover his top form. However, on paper, Clayster, Asim, HyDra and Mack is an ominous lineup for the rest of the field.

The Subliners problems started when Asim pulled out of the Stage Four Major, with their poor form having extended to Stage Five. They get their playoff campaign against OpTic Chicago on August 19, with many anticipating a New York team that is firing on all cylinders.

When do the CoD champs get underway?

It is not the first time in which Clayster will have to overcome criticism and uncertainty, with the veteran having proved on many occasions that he is one of the best in the CoD scene. However, with the likes of Chicago and Atlanta FaZe having been together since the beginning of Stage Five, the Subliners are almost certain to not have things all their own way. New York has competed in scrimmages against other CDL teams, however they will likely need some match experience before hitting top form.

The CoD Championships 2021 gets underway on August 19, with the Dallas Empire taking on the Minnesota RØKKR in the first match. It will be really interesting to see how Clayster is going to perform on his debut for New York Subliners. He has more than enough experience to help his team but only if he is in the right mindset.

All we can do is to wait and see if the team can make use of claysters huge knowledge and experience.
