Daniel “fROD” Montaner has announced his departure from the T1 VALORANT roster, with the coach now exploring new opportunities. In what has been a busy time for T1, the organization will now be on the hunt for a replacement coach.

Speaking on his departure, fRod shared the following post on his official Twitter page: “Officially LFT, no longer with T1. Difference of ethics and opinions on how to run the team/org. Wish the players the best of luck. Interested in me as a coach in valorant hmu or even to find out more info, DM’s are open, RT’s appreciated.”

Why T1 Has Struggled in VALORANT

T1 have been unable to achieve any significant success in VALORANT as of yet, despite having been one of the first organization’s to invest heavily in the game at the beginning of 2020. The first arrival was Braxton “Brax” Pierce back in March, however even the skill of the former CS:GO pro was not enough to stop the likes of 100 Thieves, TSM and Sentinels move ahead of them.

While it has not been all doom and gloom for T1, it is safe to say that they have not lived up to expectations within the VALORANT scene to date. Much of their failings early on came about because of their inability to use Jett efficiently, while a host of roster changes also effected their consistency.

How the T1 VALORANT Roster Looks for 2021

T1 did show signs of life towards the end of last year, largely thanks to the addition of Ha “Spyder” Jung-woo, who previously operated under the banner of “sayaplayer” in the Overwatch League. However, T1 are still without a VALORANT title win, with the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Showdown in June having been the closest they have come. During the event, T1 reached the latter stages, before eventually being eliminated by TSM in the Grand Finals, having also beaten them in their upper bracket clash.
We await news of who, if anyone, will replace fROD at T1, whose VALORANT roster is now made up by Brax, Keven “AZK” Lariviere, Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham and Sam “DaZeD” Marine.
