Top Esports organization Cloud9 has announced the launch of a new collegiate program alongside Uconnect Esports, which will be known as Cloud9 University. The university outreach program will take advantage of the competitive platform from Uconnect in order to host tournaments, teach students about the industry and help them to network.

How the Partnership Between Cloud9 & Uconnect Esports Came About

The partnership between Cloud9 and Uconnect first became known back in August, however it is now known that the new initiative will launch on November 5 with a collegiate-inspired Discord. Those involved will be in a position to connect and interact with the Esports organization, with Cloud9 having had the following to say in a recent statement:

“We know this has been a highly sought-after initiative by the community, and we’re excited to be bringing the next generation of esports talent a thrilling collection of events and resources in collaboration with Uconnect Esports.”

How the Program Will Work

Cloud9 are expected to select eight top US colleges, who will be affiliates of the program. Those chosen will be able to take advantage of exclusive benefits, including greater access to jobs and highly sought after internships. Meanwhile, each affiliated college will be assigned its own industry expert, who will act as a mentor.

November will also see a two-day panel series event take place, where students will gain a better understanding of how Esports works behind the scenes. This will include in-depth information regarding potential careers within the industry, specifically at Cloud9.
Meanwhile, a Cloud9 organized League of Legends intercollegiate event has also been lined up for December, with more information on the tournament to be announced in the coming weeks. Finally, a college fair will also be held in December, specifically for those involved in the Cloud9 Training Grounds or youth initiative program for youngsters.

The affiliation between Cloud9 and Uconnect Esports is aiming to bridge the gap between collegiate and professional Esports. Many are already speculating as to just how the two parties will look to grow the program into 2021.
