If recent rumors are to be believed, then Cloud9 have opened talks to sign Astralis’ Patrick “es3tag” Hansen, with such talk having originated from the much respected Danish publication TV2.dk. Es3tag has only been with Astralis since back in July, with the 24-year-old now expected to join up with Cloud9 after the completion of DreamHack Open Fall 2020.

The arrival of Hansen at Cloud9 would mean that the organization gets its hands on one of Denmark’s biggest talents, with the 24-year-old having recently helped Astralis in winning the ESL Pro League Season 12: Europe. Es3tag has certainly proved his worth at the highest level in the short amount of time he has been at Astralis, having formally represented Heroic, who he spent over three years with.

What es3tag Would Bring to Cloud9

With a 1.12 rating over 36 maps over recent months, based on figures from HLTV, es3tag would be a good addition to the Cloud9 roster. During the ESL Pro League Finals against Na’Vi, the Dane finished with an 82/81/23 KDA, as well as a 1.03 rating, figures which are in line with his average against top 20 ranked players.

Es3tag’s arrival would be the fifth new player at Cloud9 under the guidance of new general manager Henry “HenryG” Greer, however the Brit has said that there will be more than just one new arrival, with the team keen on having a sixth active player in their ranks. Cloud9 plan to battle it out at the Betway Nine to Five 5, which gets underway on October 19 and ends on November 10. The event will give a clearer understanding of just how the new look Cloud9 roster will fare, as well as leading them into Flashpoint Two.

Es3tag’s history in CS:GO dates back to 2014 when he played for KappaKappa, with the rifler having won the DreamHack Open Atlanta 2019, Games Clash Masters 2018 and Uprise Champions Cup Season 4 with Heroic and Escape Gaming. Should his move to Cloud9 materialize, he would join up with Johnny “JT” Theodosio, Ian “motm” Hardy, Joshua “oSee” Ohm and Avran “Sonic” Groesbeek.
