Becoming one of the latest organisations to venture into the world of VALORANT, Cloud 9 do so slightly differently to their competitors, having announced an all-Korean roster that will battle it out at a regional level to begin with.

Given the rapid success of VALORANT, the tactical first-person shooter from Riot Games, it comes as little surprise that Cloud 9 are looking to get in on the action. The American organisation are looking to broaden their involvement within the game, doing so by continuing their investment in the Korean Esports scene. The five players selected, along with Coach “Autumn”, will be hoping to lead the team to success, with their roster having been made up by former Overwatch and various battle royale pros.

What Does the Cloud 9 VALORANT Roster Look Like?

Undoubtedly the standout names on the new Cloud 9 VALORANT roster are former Overwatch League DPS figures Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom and Park “Bazzi” Jun-ki. The former has previously represented both Seoul Dynasty and Boston Uprising, having made a name for himself when it comes to hitscan DPS heroes in particular. Meanwhile, Bazzi was one of the leading players for the Hangzhou Spark organisation, having also represented their academy team, Bilibili Gaming.

Elsewhere, the OWL veterans will be joined by Kim “DoYA” Do-gyeong, a former Battlegrounds player for PlayerUnknown, as well as Yoo “Moothie” Seung-woo and Kang “Try” Tae-wook, who have played for DeToNator Korea in Apex Legends and in the Overwatch League respectively. DoYa is undoubtedly the most successful of the trio, having proved his worth when playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for both OGN Entus Force and DAMWON Gaming. DoYa also has a PUBG Korea League 2019 Phase 3 win to his name, along with a fourth-place finish at the Global Championship in the same year.

What Does Coach Autumn Bring to the Party?

Yoon “Autumn” Eu-ddeum has been put in charge of coaching the Cloud 9 VALORANT team, who has previously carried out a similar role for Entus Force’s sister team, OGN Entus Ace. While the team will undoubtedly take time to gel, the all-Korean roster from Cloud 9 will compete alongside their already established VALORANT team, which should give them all the motivation they need.

The Cloud 9 North American VALORANT roster includes Josh “shinobi” Abastado and Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, two well-known former CS:GO pros. It remains to be seen as to when their Korean counterparts will make their competitive debut.
