CDA-FDC Professional Championship Group Stage Analysis

CDA-FDC Professional Championship is a Chinese tournament that features 8 of the best teams in the region. With few exceptions, such as Vici Gaming, everyone that matters is playing in this competition. In this article, I will take a brief look at what happened so far and what’s scheduled for the next two days (October 24^th – 25^th).

CDA-FDC Professional Championship Details

CDA-FDC Professional Championship has a prize pool of $90,000 and lasts for 10 days. We’re currently in the Group Stage, which started yesterday (October 22^nd). Five Group Stage matches have already been played and at the time of this writing, PSG.LGD seems to be winning the 6^th. Here are the 8 participants and their groups:

Group A

• 1^st place: Royal Never Give Up: 2 W – 1 L
• 2^nd place: EHOME: 1 W – 0 L
• 3^rd place: Team MagMa: 0 W – 1 L
• 4^th place: Elephant.4AM: 0 W – 1 L

Group B

• 1^st place: Team Aster: 1 W – 0 L
• 2^nd place: PSG.LGD: 1 W – 0 L
• 3^rd place: Invictus Gaming: 1 W – 1 L
• 4^th place: SAG: 0 W – 1 L

 

In Group A, EHOME is by far the strongest competitor, followed by RNG. But the battle for the 3^rd place will be fierce. Normally, given its formidable roster, 4AM should be able to secure a ticket for the Playoffs. But so far, they haven’t looked that great. The team’s first match was against RNG and it ended fairly quickly. Its second match will be against an even stronger opponent: EHOME. If they couldn’t beat RNG, I don’t see how they could possibly beat EHOME.

In Group B, PSG.LGD and Aster are much stronger than the other two teams. And since SAG already lost two matches while Invictus Gaming managed to get one victory, I think it’s fair to say that PSG.LGD, Aster, and IG will be the qualified teams. The first two of them will almost surely advance to the Upper Bracket while the 3^rd will play in the Lower Bracket.

Upcoming Matches

In Group A, the upcoming matches are the following:

• EHOME – MagMa
• 4AM – EHOME
• 4AM – MagMa

EHOME is likely to win both of its matches, so the last dispute of these 3 will likely decide who else gets to compete in the Playoffs, besides EHOME and RNG.

In Group B, the final 3 matches will be the following:

• Aster – SAG
• IG – PSG.LGD
• LGD – Aster

The first two of these matches are of little interest, due to the fact that Aster and PSG.LGD are almost guaranteed a victory against these opponents. But you definitely don’t want to miss the 3^rd match, which will give us a better idea of what the pecking order is at the moment in China. On paper, PSG.LGD is the better team and should be able to win this dispute with a score of 2 – 0 or at least 2 – 1. They rarely lose a game and last they encountered Aster they got a clean win. That happened just two weeks ago.
