The Boston Uprising has completed its roster for the 2021 Overwatch League by announcing the arrival of Korean main support Hong-gyu “Faith” Kim and Flex DPS Byeong-ju “Valentine” Kim. The two players both signed from Korean Contenders outfit World Game Star Phoenix.

Both Faith and Valentine kick started their Overwatch careers in the Open Division, with the former having gained a good reputation for his skills with Lucio and Mercy, having played under the banner of the Korean team, Maxtil Soar. He then secured a move to Global Esports in the pacific region. It was with Global Epsorts that Faith finished as runners up to Talon Esports in the 2019 season, before switching to the Chinese region.

How Faith & Valentine Made Their Mark in Overwatch

Faith began life in the region with Phantom Wizard, a team who never found its best form in the Contenders League. However, after Faith departed in order to join another World Game Star Phoenix lineup, he quickly found himself in the main roster. As part of the lienup, Faith and his teammates secured the Korean Contenders title following a win over RunAway.

Meanwhile, Valentine first made a name for himself in the Gamecoach Academy. His performances there ultimately led to a move to New Padadigm, before returning to the Korean region with a host of different teams, including Gen.G, MVP and finally World Game Star Phoenix. It remains to be seen as to if and when Valentine can make the step up to a higher level of competition.

Can We Expect Further New Arrivals at the Uprising?

Valentine demonstrated his skills when it comes to adapting, having learned how to play Echo quickly. His performances helped World Game Star Phoenix in beating RunAway during both the regular season and finals, having been regarded as one of the most flexible players to look out for in 2021.

It now appears unlikely that Bostin will add to its roster, with the only area in which they are perhaps lacking being in the off-tank position. However, with Young-sun “GaeBullSsi” Yun and Terrene “SoOn” Tarlier having been signed at the start of the year, it would appear the the Uprising are not concerned by their lack of strength in depth.
