BOOM Esports has enjoyed a great start to the new year, following up the news of their invite to the Upper Division of the newly-formed Southeast Asia Dota 2 Pro Circuit with the addition of a new player.

The organization let go their position one carry back in December, leaving their roster short. However, Andrew “Drew” Halim has now been announced as BOOM’s replacement for “Dreamocel”.

What the Future Holds for BOOM Esports

BOOST made the decision to not compete in any events in the latter stages of 2020. However, after their invite to the DPC at the beginning of this year, the organization will now join the likes of T1, Fnatic and TNC Predator in the event. Those looking to join such established organizations must qualify through open and closed events. Speaking on their latest news, BOOM posted the following on their official Twitter page:

“We will start 2021 by receiving an invitation to the upper division of DOTA Pro Circuit 2021 S1: SEA. We also officially announced Andrew “Drew” Halim as the newest BOOM Esports player to fill the carry position.”

The Dota 2 scene took a major hit in 2020, with the Covid-19 pandemic having led to the cancellation of many tournaments. Valve were also unable to offer much in the way of new competitions. As a result, many organizations were forced to fold completely. BOOM struggled themselves, with many players having parted ways with the organization back in September.

How the BOOM Esports Dota 2 Roster Looks Ahead of Upcoming Events

However, the BOOM Esports Dota 2 roster is now made up by Andrew “Drew” Halim, Ralfi Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman, Saieful “Fbz” Ilham, Brizio “Hyde” Adi Putra and Alfi “Khezcute” Nelphyana. BOOM could well be a major player in the Southeast Asian Dota scene, especially coming off the back of a hugely impressive 2020. BOOM could also be the perfect platform for Drew.

The 22-year-old has previously played for Alter Ego and Reality Rift, with the Indonesian player having finished in second place at the ESL Indonesia Championship Season 2 in 2019, before finishing 5th-6th at the ESL SEA Championship 2020. Drew will team up with his experienced teammates at BOOM, who have all been with the organization for over a year.
