Apex Legends Horizon Abilities Breakdown
Apex Legends Season 7 is finally here, which means it’s about time we did a quick ability kit breakdown of the latest legend to join the fray — Horizon! If you’re reading these lines, you’re probably aware that the latest season (and batch of content) is now live! There’s quite a lot to dissect, and you can read our cursory breakdown if you’re looking for a quick refresher.
With that out of the way, let’s focus on Horizon, the latest addition to Apex Legends’ impressive roster!
Horizon | Ability Kit Breakdown
Horizon (or Dr. Mary Somers) is a “charmingly eccentric” astrophysicist who moved her family to the scientific research station on Olympus so that she could focus on her work. Eventually — as is so often the case with in-game lore — things went off-kilter pretty darn fast. Naturally, with her being an astrophysicist and all, the allure of going for a gravity-based ability kit was too good to pass up.
If you’re just looking for a quick primer on what she’s like, think of Zarya from Overwatch. That’s pretty much the gist of it all.
Her Tactical Ability is called “Gravity Lift.” As the name implies, it reverses the flow of gravity, therefore lifting players upwards and boosting them outwards. This is a great way to ascend your group and take control of higher ground. Its usefulness will also somewhat depend on the creativity of the player. There is a bevy of hidden little spots that previously seemed unreachable. With Horizon’s abilities, however, these nifty little places have all of a sudden become available.
Her passive is “Spacewalk.” Horizon has better control mid-air and will therefore reduce fall impact thanks to her custom spacesuit.
Finally, her ultimate is called “Black Hole.” Not that creative of a title, but it definitely fits the bill. When activated, Horizon will deploy her robotical assistant N.E.W.T. to create a micro black hole. As you can expect, that black hole will then pull players in towards it and hit them with a graviton blast at the end for good measure. Obviously, the implications and impact of such an ability needs no explanation. A well-placed “Black Hole” can turn the tides of battle in a blink of an eye. Plus, it looks amazing.
The jury’s still out when it comes to her overall viability, but Horizon is definitely a welcome addition to the Apex Legends roster. She brings a metric ton of utility and will definitely be a load of fun to play as, in no small part because of her swift and nimble nature.
If you’ve been looking for a reason to log in and queue up, now would be as good a time as any! And if you’re not a fan of Origin (and most of us aren’t), you’ll be elated to find out that you can now download and play Apex on Steam as well! The best part? You can use your old account and just pick up where you left of.
