At long last, it’s official: Apex Legends will be hitting Steam on November 4th! Players have long awaited this exciting bit of news, and now it’s finally here. The fact that it’s mere days away only adds to the hype and momentum coming into November.

This date will also mark the release of season seven which, by itself, is reason enough to get excited if you’re someone who plays regularly. And on the off-chance you intend to switch over from Origin to Steam, you’ll be happy to find out that none of your in-game accomplishments or cosmetics will be lost in the transition. Everything you did, everything you unlocked, and everything that’s in your possession will sync up between both platforms.

This is great news for those who are fed up with Origin’s somewhat clunky nature. Going forward, they’ll be able to get their Battle Royale fix on Steam without ever installing Origin. A cause for celebration, that’s for sure.

To mark the partnership between EA Games and Valve, players will also be able to unlock three limited-time weapon charms in-game, all of which are inspired by some of Valve’s most iconic intellectual properties. Nothing much, of course, but still a nice way to commemorate things.

Nintendo Switch Version Coming in 2021

It’s not all good news, unfortunately. Those who’ve been looking to game on the go will have to wait a bit longer. EA Games simply couldn’t finish Apex Legends on Switch in time for Q4 2020 which is definitely a shame. Still, better late than never. Furthermore, Apex is quite a complex title, graphics-wise. The Nintendo Switch can definitely run it from a game engine standpoint, but performance is still key. Having more time to tweak and tune their Switch port makes all the sense in the world. After all, of what use is Apex on the go if you don’t have stable 30 FPS?

2020 brought a very unique set of challenges which invariably affected the entire development process as well. And, in case you’ve missed it, Nintendo Switch players will also have cross-play enabled as well. In any case, it’ll definitely be worth the wait.

As always, we’ll bring you more coverage once season seven hits live servers!
