It seems that the GPU war between NVIDIA and AMD is still far from over, with the Radeon RX 6500 XT supposedly being right around the corner. Now, it’s no secret that “team green” released more products in a shorter period of time when compared to their perennial adversaries, but getting your hands on them has proven to be an insurmountable challenge.

Heck, we’re putting it mildly here.

Cryptocurrency miners across the globe are buying heaps of graphics cards the very moment they show up in stock. And even if a couple of GPUs “survive” this onslaught of sorts, they’re always sold for two or even three times more money than what was originally intended.

So if you’re looking to get your hands on one of these mouth-watering graphics cards, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Fortunately, there are new ones coming our way every so often, so at least there’s a reason for optimism!

AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT — Let’s Talk Specs

According to an online leaker with a proven track record, the official reveal of AMD’s Radeon RX 6500 XT is right around the corner. This mid-range graphics card will be based on the Navi 23 RDNA 2 architecture and will have a die size of approximately 236mm².

This graphics card, in particular, is supposed to replace AMD’s previous RX 5500 series — a fairly capable slew of GPUs with a die size of 158mm². So just from a pure mathematical standpoint, the RX 6500 XT will pack a whole lot more power. This will result in around 32 CUs (compute units), 64MB of Infinity Cache, a 128-bit bus interface with up to 8GB GDDR6 memory.

The Radeon RX 6500 XT will supposedly offer a “premium 1080p experience” and will directly compete with NVIDIA’s RTX 3060. This leaker is predicting an official reveal at some point in April, with an MSRP of around $350. How much it’ll eventually retail for, however, is anyone’s guess at this point, but expect a hefty price premium on top.

Still, even if it does end up selling for $350, that’s still a hefty price tag, especially seeing how it’s targeted at 1080p gaming. AMD would be wise to aim for a $299 MSRP which would make the RX 6500 XT a lot more competitive. Regardless, we can only theorize at this point, but at least the official reveal isn’t far off! Either way, we’ll bring you any updates from the moment they hit the web!
