Following much speculation, it has been confirmed that 100 Thieves will be leaving the competitive CS:GO scene, with the departure of star player Justin “Jks” Savage to Complexity Gaming having seemingly been the straw that broke the camel’s back for the American organization. 100 Thieves CEO Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag confirmed the news this week, whilst also having his say on Jks’ move.

Why Haag Decided to End 100 Thieves’ Time in CS:GO

Nadeshot made the decision based on a “multitude of factors”, however the biggest was seemingly the fact that the team is based in North America. Speaking on a video posted on the official 100 Thieves Twitter page, Haag stated that: “Number 1, 100 Thieves is a North American organization. We have loved and cherished every moment that our CS:GO team has competed at the 100 Thieves Cashout Compound.

That’s where we want our team to be, that’s where we want our players to be. We want to give them the support structure that they deserve, and we want to integrate them into our culture. We want to be there for them with any problem they may have, big or small. And what’s happening right now in CS:GO, everything is transitioning over to Europe.”

The former Call of Duty pro went on to mention that he had talked through such issues with all players, with the need to be in Europe being something that could not be overcome, with the 100 Thieves compound being located in Los Angeles. Continuing, Nadeshot stated that: “I have loved every moment we have spent in the CS:GO community. We will continue to support it. We will continue to keep our eyes on it. And we wish nothing but the very best for our players, our coaches, the teams they will spend the rest of their careers on, and the entire community.”

Will We See 100 Thieves Return in the Future?

It remains to be seen as to whether 100 Thieves will return to CS:GO in the future, with the current landscape making such predictions difficult to predict. However, we have not seen the last of the team for now, with 100 Thieves still being obligated to play their remaining matches at the IEM New York event, which will likely be the last time they play under this banner.
