North American organization 100 Thieves has bought out the contracts of Golden Guardians players Ian “FBI” Huang and Can “Closer” Celik. The duo will join the team following standout seasons with the Guardians, with 100 Thieves having broken the news on their official Twitter page on Monday. Both FBA and Closer have already been named in the starting LCS roster for the upcoming season.

Both FBI and Closer demonstrated that they have the potential to play at a higher level last season, having led Golden Guardians to one of their best splits ever, with the organization having finished fifth in the LCS Summer Playoffs, thanks in part to a three-game whitewash of TSM.

Why 100 Thieves Made Their Move for FBI & Closer

100 Thieves took advantage of the fact that Golden Guardians recently released its entire roster, with a number of other organizations having been interested in acquiring the services of FBI and Closer. However, with the duo having chosen 100 Thieves, the North American’s now look to have a significantly better roster on paper, which will come as good news following their eight place finish at the Summer Split.

100 Thieves parted ways with AD Carry Liyu “Cody” Cody Sun just week, with the Canadian now joining the free agency list. Meanwhile, it is expected that Closer will fill the void left by Juan “Contractz” Garcia, who departed the organization having nailed down the jungle position during the 2020 season.

Can We Expect Further Moves from 100 Thieves During the Offseason

We await further news from 100 Thieves on moves during the offseason, however it would come as no surprise should the organization look to bring in more talent. The youth of FBI and Closer is accompanied by the experience of Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho in the top lane, meaning that confidence should be high ahead of the 2021 LCS, which is expected to kick off in North America at the beginning of next year.

Midl laner Tommy “Ryoma” Le and support Philippe “Poome” Lavoie-Giguere make up the current 100 Thieves lineup, with 27-year-old Head Coach Tony “Zikz” Gray being in charge of getting the best out of such players.
